Shooting rampage in Connecticut gives me a headache

20 year old Adam Lanza went on a shooting spree today in Newtown, Connecticut that left a total of 28 dead.  Mr. Lanza killed 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary school, half a dozen adults including the principal and school counselor, himself, and his mother (who taught at the school) at her home before he went to the school.  He used legally purchased guns that his mother apparently owned.

Strangely enough, this event on the other side of the country affected my job.  53 minutes of the TV show I work on was preempted today for coverage of the event.  ABC devoted a total of just under four hours of non-stop news coverage starting seven minutes into the Blend.  While the nation was grieving and in shock, I was figuring out how we were going to make up segments next week that we weren't able to air.
