Toilet bowl cleaner in the washing machine

Anthony and I spent our Sunday evening on our usual excursion: Dinner and grocery shopping.

Dinner was at Boston Market at Grant and Tanque Verde. In an unusual moment, we ate in a semi-busy restaurant. Often when we eat out on Sundays we're alone in the dining room of the restaurant we choose. It took the staff a really long time to bring out two Chicken Carver sandwiches (25 minutes) but they were delicious as always. While we were waiting, we watched a guy fill up a soda who we were pretty sure had Tourette's Syndrome, and a woman walk out after finding out it would take fifteen minutes to cook her meatloaf. Basically, we got some free entertainment out of the deal.

Grocery shopping was at Walmart Neighborhood Market at Broadway and Camino Seco. It was an uneventful shopping trip... although I did shoot a few of the usual product photos I take when I go to the store with Anthony.

The hilarious moment of the night occurred once we got home. I was attempting to finish my laundry for the week and accidentally squirted toilet bowl cleaner into the washing machine. It comes in the same style squirt bottle as toilet bowl cleaner and I didn't look carefully enough when I took it out of the cupboard. As I usually manage to do, I disrupted Anthony's carefully orchestrated laundry effort for the week because now all he'll think about is that the washer is now clean enough to poop in.

How exciting!

Anthony's "I'm gonna cut a bitch" face.
It's also his "O" face and his
"I won the lottery" face.

I'm glad we didn't eat at McDonald's next door.
It was under attack from a dinosaur!

This shelf isn't very valuable.
It's only one carrot!

Sun-rise individually wrapped pancakes.
Microwaveable in 15 seconds!
Brilliant!

Maple Bacon cookies.
The bacon craze may have gone too far.

I wanted to try this...
but, I'd have to like, bake and stuff.

Devastation.

Ken Carr Photo Art: October sunset

I shot this photo of tonight's sunset looking west from my bedroom balcony.

I thought the wisp of cloud, building, and tree in the shot made it look kind of artsy.  More artsy than the photos I've shot of Lucky pooping.

Simon leaves puddles

This summer's (and now fall) weather has been unusual. The really unusual part has been the rains we've received thanks to "remnants" of Pacific hurricanes Norbert, Odile, and Simon.

Norbert caused flooding in Tucson and especially in Phoenix, we were supposed to get a historic rain event thanks to Odile but that storm turned east about 60 miles south of Tucson, and Simon gave us some surprise rain.

I have rarely seen standing water in the ditches along the west side of Ridgepointe but there was some on Thursday. You have to remember that I live in the desert and seeing standing water anywhere besides my bathtub or in a swimming pool is a bit of an event.

Fortunately, the puddles didn't stay long enough for mosquitos to share any West Nile virus, ebola, SARS, or bird flu.

Fortunately a swift water rescue wasn't required.

This puddle was still around after I got
home from work on Thursday.

Meeting Jake "The Snake" Roberts

I booked a segment on the show for "El Alambrista La Vengaza", a locally produced movie.

The guests included Director Alfonso Sahagun Casaus, actor Fausto Olmos (he plays El Alambrista), and actor / WWE Hall Of Fame wrestler Jake "The Snake" Roberts.

I've never been a big wrestling fan, but I have great appreciation for the athletic skill and discipline that the sport requires, and what kind of abuse wrestlers subject their bodies to. They all are a whole lot tougher than I am. I have also enjoyed meeting professional wrestlers, every one of them I've come in contact with over the years has been kind and wonderful to chat with.

Jake was very gracious and a fantastic guest.

I showed him my signature wrestling move: "Clip microphone pack on back of pants". I use it on all of our show guests. He was powerless to stop it.

Got the pride

Two of the guests on today's show were representing Tucson Pride, the organization that orchestrates "Pride On Parade" (one of two gay pride parades that Tucson has each October) and "Pride In The Desert" (the gay pride festival held each year).

This photo is notable not only for having Tucson Pride President April Moss, but also Daniel Hernandez. Daniel is best known for being Gabrielle Giffords intern on the day of the January 8 shooting in 2011 and is credited for saving Gabby's life by applying pressure to the gunshot wound to her head as well as making sure she didn't choke on blood. These days, he's a member of the Sunnyside School District Board and the reason he was on the show yesterday was because he's the Grand Marshall of this year's Pride On Parade event.

He and I are also a little familiar with each other because he remembers me from my days working in radio in Tucson.

Here we are in my office -- two fabulous and important members of the community, and a dork with amazing hair.
