I spotted a family of bobcats on the other side of the south parking lot fence while I was leaving work from the KGUN 9 building tonight at about 5:45 p.m.
It's not that common to see bobcats this far into the city. Even though it was getting dark, I was able to get some video through the bars of the fence.
It was a mother bobcat and her two frolicking bobcat children.
Fortunately, they usually don't try to eat humans.

Oh Ken, you're so sneaky
I was feeling like a bucket of ass today but still went to grab dinner and get groceries with Anthony.
Even though I was feeling poorly, I still managed to muster the strength to take two sneaky photos of Anthony. I had to dig deep for the energy. But, these things are important.

Dinner with Anthony, Jason and Alberto at BJ's
Anthony and I had dinner last night with our friends Jason and Alberto at BJ's Restaurant on Oracle Road near Tucson Mall.
We had a great time. I've been friends with Jason for over ten years and it's always fun catching up.
One of the topics of conversation was when we were next door neighbors on Stone Avenue. That house was the biggest dump I'd ever lived in but had super cheap rent (2 bedrooms, wood floors, washer and dryer, $475 a month). We talked about how we both enjoyed living there.
I started thinking back to my very first apartment in Denver, Colorado. I had considered that place kind of a dump but now that I look back, the apartment wasn't too bad. I even looked it up on Google Street View today... 5590 W. Warren Avenue a few blocks off of Sheridan in southeast Denver proper. The Safeway that was across the street when I lived there is now a plain grey building called Contractors Supply, but the apartments themselves look exactly the same from the outside as they did in 1986. I'm guessing they don't use green shag carpeting inside anymore, but who knows.

Blind baseball in the TV studio
I'm the person responsible for booking guests and managing content on the TV show I work on. Most segments meet the expectations I have for how they're going to go, a few turn out to be a disappointment, and some turn out to exceed my expectations.
One of those delightful surprises recently was the Southwest Slammers, a softball team that is made up of mostly blind players. They use a beep baseball (it makes a rather loud beep noise so players know where it is). The guests were interesting, the subject matter was interesting, and one of our show hosts put on a blindfold and tried to hit the ball in the TV studio while the other pitched it.
I am getting better at knowing what shutter speed to set my camera to get motion frozen in a still photograph. I think the photo I posted below from the segment came out looking pretty cool and captured a moment that told the story it was supposed to. As a bonus, there are also a couple of photos where I had to run the shutter speed about as fast as I could under our lighting conditions from a performance preview of the Nutcracker.

Video: Anthony in the shower
Sometimes I like to have a bit of fun with Anthony. In case you were wondering, it's my brand of fun, not his.
One of the things I like to do is try to talk to him while he's in the shower. The shower is his sanctuary, and he does not like to be disturbed. It makes for some funny exchanges.
I brought a video camera to the doorway a few days ago and tried to talk to him. He wasn't having it. "GET OUT!"
