Losing my Burgerrito virginity

There has been a popularity surge in recent years for food trucks. Tucson has a bunch of them. I haven't really sought them out, but Ridgepointe Apartments where I live hosted the Burgerrito food truck this evening over near the office and I decided to go and check it out.

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to eating new foods because most every food that exists upsets my stomach in some way. I eat a lot of things knowing I will be punished later by my digestive system. I made a decision years ago to just deal with it but it doesn't make it any more fun.

Burgerrito's signature food offering is just like it sounds: A burger inside of a burrito. I experience less discomfort with burgers than most foods but burritos can be an adventure. I thought one might cancel out the other.

I ordered a Burgerrito Deluxe. It was really spicy. If I try something from them again, it'll likely be an actual burger (they have those on their menu). The Burgerrito Deluxe was a bit much for ol' Ken.

If you see a green cloud form over the east side of Tucson, don't worry. It's just me.

The new staff working on the TV show has been in place for a bit, so it's giving me the opportunity to return to the studio most every day and take pictures of the guests and show while it's in progress.

It also has given me the opportunity to hunt for the funny moments.

During a segment today related to organizing, the guest was describing the size of an item using her hands. However, if you have a dirty mind (well, do you?), you might think she was describing something else.

Huge.

It was this big, she said.

Lucky meets Gabrielle Giffords

Anthony and I spent half of our Saturday at La Encantada for the Women's Spa and Wellness Showcase. The reason we went was to take Lucky for their doggy fashion show.

He's appeared in this event four (maybe five, I've lost count) times. It's a fun thing to do, and despite the fact that he'll put his tail so far up between his hind legs that it's barely visible and tremble non-stop half the time, he gets incredibly excited when we go.

I purchased a fun little outfit for him that had a sports theme. It was a striped shirt with a little yellow flag on it that says "Rufferee". He got a matching collar and harness to go with it.

We had a 'moment that only happens to me' shortly after we arrived. We parked in the back covered parking lot at La Encatada, and as we made the turn toward the stairs on the upper level past the Tiffany's store, I heard a woman say "cute doggie". I looked up, and sitting on a bench ahead of me was former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. She is arguably one of Tucson's most famous citizens, especially after surviving the horrific shooting incident a few years ago on January 8 outside of the Safeway at Ina Road and Oracle.

I brought Lucky over to show him off, and explained to her that there was a doggy fashion show we were taking him to appear in on the lower level. She seemed delighted to see him in his outfit.

I found out after the encounter that Anthony was totally star struck, and while he was trying to figure out how to ask her for a picture (it was one of the rare times that I didn't ask, I was too busy being a proud doggy daddy), I was chatting about dog fashions.

She came down and watched him in the show.  I think Lucky has a new fan.

The afternoon was fun, Lucky did great, and it was fun to do something outside of the house. Both Anthony and I work so much anymore that we rarely do anything socially.

I'm waiting for Lucky to ask me to get him an agent.

One of my neighbors asked me last weekend if I would dog sit this week while he was in New Mexico. I barely know the guy except that I see him outside with his dog regularly when I am walking Lucky. I knew it would be an extra hour or more each day walking a second dog but I agreed to help him out.

The guy's dog is named Sammy. He was easy to walk and take care of. It was kind of amusing that he sniffs every bush, piece of grass, rock, and sidewalk and marks them all with a squirt of pee. Lucky is not as much of a sniffer as Sammy is so the walking process took about twice as long as it does with Lucky.

I made the decision not to attempt to walk them both simultaneously. Sammy is a little bit bigger than Lucky, and I was concerned that two fifty plus pound dogs would be too much for me to handle at the same time. I had visions of them both getting excited about something at the same time and pulling my arms off, then I'd be standing there with blood squirting out of my shoulder stumps while they run away with a detached arm attached to each leash.

Other than the extra time it took each day, the task itself wasn't a big deal. He also has a cat which I petted when I went into his apartment to retrieve Sammy. I checked on their food and water, and did the walking 3-4 times a day. Poor Sammy must have been a bit unhappy about missing his owner. He didn't eat anything the entire week. But at least he was drinking water because he peed every time I took him out.

I asked Anthony if he wanted to help me with the walking. He politely declined. He prefers his sleep. Maybe I should learn something from him.

A lizard, a snake, two turtles, and a puppy

TV viewers always seem to like seeing non-human creatures on TV shows. That certainly applies to the show that I work on.

Today we had a lizard (I'm sure it has a more proper name than lizard but I don't know what it is), two tortoises, a snake, and a puppy on the show. They were all not in the same segment. That is probably a good thing or something would have eaten something else.

The creatures don't say much, but they sure are interesting looking... including the puppy.
