Leslie's Poppycock

Leslie, who has the cubicle next to mine at the radio/TV building, had a can of Poppycock on her desk. I used a little blue 'M' sticker to make the name of it more interesting. I also thought the newly named snack should be pictured near one of her Christmas cards. The result:

Miley Cyrus is recording remake of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"

Hell is freezing over.

Miley Cyrus is working in the studio right now with Poison frontman Bret Michaels. She is a big fan of the 1980's rock band Poison and is recording a remake of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn".

Bret may even do some guitar work on the track.

Miley's first concert experience, besides seeing her dad Billy Ray Cyrus play, was seeing Poison perform in Nashville. Miley is 17 years old now (born in 1992).

Your restroom is dirty

I had the Tyra Banks show on in the studio yesterday (airs at 3 p.m. weekdays on The CW Tucson) and a segment of the show covered the cleanest and dirtiest parts of a restroom.

Here are a few interesting facts:

Cleanest stall in a restroom is: The one closest to the door. Because a majority of people use the one farthest from the door.

Dirtiest surface in a restroom: The floor. In fact, the study that she cited said about 1/3 of the purses tested had fecal matter (poo!) on the bottom from being put on a restroom floor. Use the hook in the stall to hang up your purse!

One of the cleanest surfaces in a restroom: The toilet seat that you sit on. So, if you bring a sandwich in to a restroom and need someplace to put it down the toilet seat might be a good location. Just don't put your purse down on top of the sandwich.

Mysterious sonic booms in Tucson

Boom! Boom!

Mysterious sonic booms have rattled some windows and nerves in Tucson in the last 24 hours. The last one that people were Tweeting about on Twitter was around 8 p.m. I was in our relatively soundproof radio/TV building and didn't hear a thing.

The sonic booms have been traced to supersonic aircraft doing training exercises. The aircraft is from Luke Air Force Base west of Phoenix. The Air Force base in Tucson has a limited inventory of supersonic aircraft but were not involved in any exercises at the time the booms were heard.

Due to the cold weather, sonic booms are louder and can travel farther. That may explain why they were so loud and rattled some windows as well as nerves.

It wasn't an earthquake or God farting. It was an airplane!
