I am a broadcast media professional whose career has spanned 25 years in radio and television.
My interest was sparked when I was a teenager. I wrote a paper on radio when I was in Junior High School and I also joined an Boy Scout Explorer Group. I spent some time inside of a radio station and television station as part of that group and I was hooked.
My first day on the radio was July 5, 1987 in Kearney, Nebraska at KKPR-FM "Power 99". The station had this new technology for playing music on "compact discs" and we referred to it on the air as "laser digital stereo". Music on CD was alternated with playing music on turntables and sometimes on cassettes.
My career in radio took me to cities coast to coast including Kansas City, Providence, Omaha, Colorado Springs, Stockton, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Modesto, and Tucson. I've been on the air in every daypart, plus have served as a Music Director, Assistant Program Director, Promotions Director, and Program Director. I've voiced and produced thousands of commercials, performed hundreds of live on-site radio broadcasts (remotes), spoken on-stage to crowds as large as 15,000, and met and interviewed dozens of celebrities including Paris Hilton, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, Gene Simmons and Gwen Stefani. Patti LaBelle even did a shout out to me on stage at her 2011 concert in Tucson and I wasn't even at the show!
I've also been involved in college sports as the public address announcer at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California for four seasons of men's and women's basketball and men's and women's volleyball.
More recently I've made the transition to television. I've co-hosted the MDA Labor Day telethon (local segments) four times and hosted a movie show (Mega Movie) for 2 1/2 years on KWBA-TV (CW Channel 58) two nights a week in primetime. I was also the promotional voice for KWBA-TV for two years.
I was a news producer for KMSB-TV (Fox 11) in 2011/2012, and am currently the Executive Producer of the Morning Blend TV show on KGUN 9 (ABC), a lifestyle/entertainment/information style show which airs at 11 a.m. weekdays.
